Having a HAM license is mandatory for TXDF officers.  It's also a good thing for preppers, patriots, and for security officers looking to obtain some CE hours - TXDF can issue those for attending as well.

You can get started early by visiting https://hamstudy.org and working through the questions.  This class will (hopefully) teach you what practical applications some of the math, electronic components, and terminology actually have - which might aid you when taking the test.
